Taco Bell Red Sauce

I've loved Taco Bell Red Sauce ever since I was a kid. I always order extra plus sides of it when I go there. I've been working on a clone recipe to try and recreate it for years that is based on the ingredients listed on their site. Over the years I've made adjustments to the recipe trying to get as close as I can the the real thing and I think I've finally got pretty close. If you want to try it out, here is the recipe!

Taco Bell Red Sauce Copycat Recipe

A recipe for a sauce that tastes like Taco Bell Red Sauce. This is not the sauce in the packets, it is the sauce in the Bean Burritos and that used to be on the Enchirito and Smothered Burritos when they had those.

Recipe

Ingredients

2 1/4 cup water (divided if using cornstarch)
1/2 tsp Xanthan Gum or 2 Tbsp corn starch
1 Tbsp paprika
1 Tbsp chili powder
2 Tbsp tomato paste
2 tsp smoked paprika
1 1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp nutritional yeast
1 tsp lime juice
1/2 tsp onion powder
1/2 tsp sugar

Directions

Bring all ingredients (except 1/4 cup water and corn starch if using cornstarch) to a boil in a saucepan.

Reduce heat and simmer for 10 minutes.

If using Xanthan Gum:

Remove from heat, add Xanthan Gum, and blend with an immersion blender or in a blender.

If using corn starch:

Mix 1/4 cup water and corn starch.

Add corn starch water to the pan, bring back to a simmer, and simmer for another minute or two whisking frequently.

Notes

Using Xanthan Gum gives a better texture that is closer to the original but corn starch can be used instead.

This recipe is a work in progress. I think it tastes pretty close to Taco Bell's Red Sauce but it still needs improvement. If you try a variation you think is closer feel free to fork this repo, make your adjustments, and create a pull request. Or you can just email me your recipe at info@drewbrasher.com

The first time I remember hearing of it was in an episode of the TV show Ghosts last year. I didn't give it much thought though until someone in The Bham Bevy asked if anyone wanted to play. I looked it up and thought it looked fun so I decided to join. I've been playing fairly regularly for the past few months now and I really like it!

If you want to watch a game of Pickleball, I think the Celebrity Pickleball Tournament "Pickled" is a fun one to watch.
www.cbs.com/shows/pickled/

If you've never played before and are thinking of trying it, here are two videos that I think do a great job of explaining how to play:

Hello, World!

I figured I would start my blog out with a classic hello world in my favorite language, C#!

Console.WriteLine("Hello, World!");

Starting with C# 10 and .NET 6, the simplest app got a lot simpler. For comparison, here is what it used to look like:

using System;

namespace MyApp
{
    internal class Program
    {
        static void Main(string[] args)
        {
            Console.WriteLine("Hello World!");
        }
    }
}

You can read more about the change here:
learn.microsoft.com/en-us/dotnet/core/tutorials/top-level-templates

I have been using C# and .Net for over 8 years now and I really love it. I've also used Java, PHP, C++, Python, and JavaScript but C# is my favorite. If you want to learn C# here is a good place to start: learn.microsoft.com/en-us/dotnet/csharp/.
